Compile Properties: NetObjects Support
Top  Previous  Next

If you select NetObjects Support, you must choose your Fusion Publish Method using the appropriate radio button. This will correctly set the relative path to the external .js files from your web pages when you publish. AllWebMenus will generate these external folders and files for you and save them to the Fusion site folder you select.

The necessary menu linking and positioning code is generated for you and saved in the same site folder where the compiled menu (menuname.js) is generated.

How to insert menu linking and positioning code in Page View:

1. Inserting the positioning code (located inside the menuname_positioning.txt file)
Place a text box on your page where you wish the menus to appear. Allow space on your page for the menus. Insert the contents of the menuname_positioning.txt file into the text box using Insert HTML (Ctrl+T).

2. Inserting the menu-linking code (located inside the menuname_linking.txt file)
The contents of the menuname_linking.txt must be inserted on your page as well. For complete cross-browser compatibility, this code must be placed on your page just before the </body> tag. This may be accomplished without manual editing by using the BitMotion UCS SuperScripter component (available from www.gotfusion.com). If you do not require support for NetScape 4.x browsers, the menu linking code may be inserted on your page following the menu positioning code (works with IE5+, NetScape 6 and 7, Mozilla 1.0+). If you have a single menu, place the code in the same text box after the positioning code. If you have multiple menus, place the linking code into the text box containing in the menu positioning code closest to the bottom of the page.

Important Note: The AllWebMenus generated menu folders and external javascript must be ftp'd to the site document root on your web server. Fusion will not automatically do this for you. It is normal if your menus do not work in Preview Mode. They do work when you publish the site, provided that you do not forget to upload the AllWebMenus-related files and folders in the root of your web site.

Tip: You may place the positioning and the menu-linking code in a Fusion master border if you wish to utilize the same menu(s) on multiple pages. If you do so, it is advised that you insert the menu-linking code at the very end of the Master Board and check the "FrontPage Support" box before compiling. It may sound strange, but in this way your menus will work in NS4.x without any problems.

We would like to thank www.gotfusion.com for their continuing support in our efforts to better integrate AllWebMenus with the NetObjects Fusion Authoring Tool.
